Have you had a chance to stop by our gallery wall and display case this month? If not, you should take a few moments to check out our talented featured artists for the month of April!
Each month, the Library hosts two local artists on the Friends of the Brentwood Library (FOBL) Gallery Wall and Showcase Display. Our April Gallery artist is Nan Gurley, who will be exhibiting impressionistic oils. Wood Artisan and Designer Mark Alan Porter’s work will be featured in the Showcase Display.
Nan Gurley is not only an artist, but also an accomplished author, songwriter, actress, and producer. Nan turned to canvas about 10 years ago to continue to express her artistry. As an artist, Nan has studied with Melanie Jackson, Dorsey McHugh, Deby Dearman and Dawn Whitelaw. Her exhibit at the Brentwood Library during the month of April is her first solo art show.
Mark Alan Porter is quickly becoming a highly recognized Tennessee Artisan. With work residing in six countries as well as twenty states in the US, his gifted creativity and passion for his hand crafted sculpture, boxes and hardwood platters has struck an accord for those who love beautiful handmade woodwork. His unique rustic barn wood designs of trays, frames, wine racks, table boxes and chalkboards are very popular. You can find Mark most Saturdays at the Franklin Farmers Market, or you can view his pieces during the month of April at the Library.
If you are an artist and interested in exhibiting at The John P. Holt Brentwood Library, please contact the FOBL Art Chair, Jeannine Owens at firstname.lastname@example.org.
