Each month, The John P. Holt Brentwood Library hosts two local artists on the Friends of the Brentwood Library (FOBL) Gallery Wall and Showcase Display. Our February Gallery artist is Sandy Coomer.
Sandy Coomer is a poet, artist, and endurance athlete living in Brentwood. Her poetry has been published in numerous journals and magazines and she is the author of three poetry chapbooks, including the most recent, Rivers Within Us (Unsolicited Press). She is the founding editor of the online poetry journal, Rockvale Review, and the creator and curator, along with TN photographer/writer Terry Price, of the Ekphrastic poetry project 20/20 Vision: Focus on Italy, a Poetic Response to Photography.
Sandy’s art has been featured in local art shows and exhibits, and is sold in her Etsy store, Sparrow House Art. She creates in the genres of Mixed Media, Acrylic Pour, and Abstract Landscape. Her art has been published in journals such as Lunch Ticket (Antioch University Los Angeles), Gravel, Varnish, The Wire Dream’s Journal and The Magnolia Review. Sandy also creates unique covers for blank books / journals which are meant to encourage others to write, draw, and set out on their own creative journey. Sandy, who says her favorite word is “believe,” also teaches Acrylic Pour classes.
Sandy is not new to the Gallery wall – she has displayed her mixed media work before, but is now focusing on Acrylic Pour artwork. You can view her latest works in the Gallery at the Brentwood Library during the month of February. For more information, visit her website at www.sandycoomer.com.
