The Brentwood Library is on a mission this winter: Get more people to try digital reading! Our online collection houses thousands of eBooks and digital audiobooks through our partnership with OverDrive. Yet, many people are still surprised to learn their library card gives them access to so many free digital titles.
That is why, throughout the rest of this year, the library is participating in OverDrive’s “Digital Dash” contest. If we reach our goal of 3,290,364 digital checkouts by the end of the year, we will be eligible to win additional funds to buy more eBooks and audiobooks for our OverDrive collection. This contest goal encompasses all libraries in the regional library system, not just The Brentwood Library.
The library’s digital books are free for anyone with a valid library card. Current popular titles include Children of the Fleet, by Orsin Scott Card, It Devours!, by Joseph Frink, Autonomous, by Annalee Newitz, Sleeping Beauties, by Stephen, and The Rules of Magic, by Alice Hoffman just to name a few.
Digital reading also includes nifty features such as reading samples, ratings, and never being charged a late or overdue fine, as they return automatically at the end of the lending period. Users can borrow bestsellers, classic eBooks, and digital audiobooks to enjoy on smart phones, tablets, Kindles, and other eReaders, MP3 players, and computers.
Help The Brentwood Library and other libraries in our region, reach our goal by trying out digital reading! Readers can access the library’s digital collection 24/7 by visiting http://www.brentwoodtn.gov/library on a desktop, navigating to eLibrary, and clicking on R.E.A.D.S. or by downloading the Libby app from your device’s app store.
