December FOBL Gallery Wall Artist

Sketch Bourque

This month the library welcomes a new and interesting perspective from Sketch Bourque. The Louisiana native earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and  has called Tennessee his home for over a decade.

Bourque’s pieces consist of detail colored pencil drawings, graphite drawings, acrylic paintings, and even a few photographs. The results are stunning creations that are truly unique and thought provoking. image2

Sketch has a unique point of view, and wants his work to illicit feelings that are deeper than just on the surface. “Most art in any medium these days is desperate to shock or provoke, that’s the easy way out. I want to do it the hard way, where the quality, subject matter, and presentation is what draws the viewer in.  I would like to instill in the viewer a sense of intrigue and even awe, not one of disturbance.”

Presented by The Friends of The Brentwood Library:

Each month, The Brentwood Library hosts two local artists on the Friends of the Brentwood Library (FOBL) Gallery Wall and Showcase Display. Please take a few extra moments the next time you visit to pause and savor these artists’ creations.

Each artist who displays their collection on the FOBL Gallery Wall contributes one piece to the our Art Lending Library. With over 230 pieces to choose from, patrons are able to check them out for ninety days. This artwork is a beautiful addition to the library that includes original artwork in acrylics, oils, pen and ink, pastels, photographs, and water colors. A full, detailed description of most items can be found in the Digital Collection on the library’s website.
